The Coliseum as seen in Chapter II
The Colosseum or Coliseum is a dynamically changing arena located in Rome in Ryse: Son of Rome.
Historically, the Coliseum was constructed between the years 72-80 AD in the center of Rome and is the largest amphitheatre ever built. The Colosseum could hold, it is estimated, between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators, having an average audience of some 65,000. It was used primarily for gladiatorial contests, and public spectacles such as executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology.

The Coliseum
The Coliseum is the primary battleground for Chapter VII and Multiplayer. It's environment is constantly changing with the use of inter-changeable panels that rise up from out of the ground. The Coliseum first appears in Chapter II, and can be viewed from a distance but never reached.
The Coliseum reappears in Chapter VII and can be viewed from the same general area as in Chapter II. The Coliseum becomes the battleground for the second half of the chapter and features a gladiatorial contest. General Commodus holds a tournament in the Coliseum where the best gladiators in all of the Empire are to fight waves of barbarian prisoners and "emulate his deeds" from his recent campaign, which are nothing short of lies. The prize for surviving the onslaught would be the chance to duel Commodus. However, Commodus underestimates the tournament champion, Marius Titus disguised as Damocles and is publicly beheaded.
Multiplayer[]
The Coliseum is the battleground for all multiplayer matches, which feature either a lone gladiator or a team of two facing waves of barbarians in an objective based battle, all the while being sure to entertain the crowd.
The Coliseum's dynamically changing arena truly shines in multiplayer, and due to the game's overall excellent performance, there are rarely any glitches or even the slightest lag or delay during the transformations, with the trade-off of a long initial loading screen.
The Coliseum's environment template can be selected during the match creation, and many additional styles such as deserts, forests and such can be purchased as DLC, accounting for most of the game's downloadable content, and are included in bundles with character costumes.
